“FAKE NEWS” IS NO NEWS

“Fake news” is a term used to misinform or to deceive the reader or audience. It is used to promote, publicize, and encourage the audience by attracting them to false information. These stories are designed to make people believe in something that is actually false, to buy a certain product, or to visit a certain website.  Another term for this is "Clickbait", in which creators use to get readers to open their Article/video.

An example of advertising is by using social media as a way to be more interactive with society. While many use social media as a way to pass time or for their own entertainment, many advertising companies use social media to attract a certain age group or audience to get them to purchase their product. An example of these can be Calvin Klein's ads to promote thier undergarnments in recent 2019 promotional ads. Progressively, fake news will be more and more dangerous; it has already been looked at like a threat to many entertainment agencies, advertisement companies, and celebrities.

There are many ways to avoid such cases. Some examples include considering the source it came from, checking the date or the author, or by looking for any biases. In many cases, analyzing the website could help you in the long run. Firstly, when checking a website, you should make sure the website itself is secured. Making sure something is secured or verified, is a way to tell if you should trust the publisher of the website. Checking the date is also something you should take into consideration while reading an article on a website because, the website that you may be reading off of may be outdated. This could affect your opinion on a topic or situation, leading to a different belief. An example of this situation is when I went on a website that was not verified, the website had no proper writing structure, nor did it have a main topic when trying to make a point in their article. The article also did not include proper facts about the topic.

Furthermore, writers and creators are finding more and more creative ways to "Clickbait" someone into reading/watching something that is "true", when it is in fact false. So be cautious in what you read/watch because it may not be true and turn out to be far from the truth.
